Travel to Morocco: these spots not to be missed under any circumstances

1 December 2023

It is often said that Morocco is a country of a thousand facets. While it is true that this label is a bit cliché and can apply to many countries, it remains that you will find varied landscapes, very interesting gastronomy, and a rich culture there.

Which means that, whatever your traveler profile, you will surely find your happiness in Morocco. For this article, we decided to present 4 spots that are particularly close to our hearts for different reasons.

The Dadès Gorges

Do you love nature and wide open spaces? Then the Dadès Gorges are probably made for you! For a first trip to Morocco, this is at least what we would tend to recommend first. You should know that these gorges are carved by the river of the same name that winds between limestone cliffs in ochre and red colors.

This is a type of landscape we are not used to in France, hence a total change of scenery.

You will notably be able to admire impressive geological formations such as the monkey fingers or the road of a thousand kasbahs. And if you dare to venture into the local Berber villages, you will certainly be welcomed with a mint tea!

The City of Chefchaouen

Perched on the Rif mountains, Chefchaouen is a city that leaves no one indifferent. Its houses and alleys are indeed painted in shades of blue that contrast with the green of the surrounding hills. It is absolutely magnificent and looks like a theme park when you visit for the first time!

If you like original decorations, it is definitely an ideal place to stroll, relax, and take plenty of photos. Its local crafts are also worth a look, so be sure to have some money on you!

The City of Essaouira

We completely change the scenery with the city of Essaouira, which is located by the sea. We love it for its famous fishing port, its fortified medina, as well as its fine sandy beaches. If you are lucky enough to visit in summer or early autumn, you can take advantage of it to take a dip.

You should know that it is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts such as surfing and windsurfing. One last thing: don’t forget to taste on-site the delicious dishes made from freshly caught fish and seafood!

The City of Marrakech

Finally, we finish with Marrakech, which is undoubtedly the most famous city in Morocco, and for good reason. It is indeed full of cultural activities suitable for everyone. Between the various historical monuments to visit (Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs…) and its famous lively souk to explore thoroughly, you won’t be bored for a single second.

You can also relax in its exceptional lush gardens. Let’s mention the Majorelle Garden and the Menara Garden, which we highly recommend!
